Virgin Australia wins most on time airline for departures in Australia
Virgin Australia was today named the most on time major airline for departures in Australia1 for the 2019 financial year, beating its competitor by 0.3%. According to the data, 81.9% of Virgin Australia’s flights departed on time, making it the most reliable major airline for on time departures for the second year in a row.
The Bureau of Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Economics’ data also found that Virgin Australia was the least likely of any major airline in the country to cancel a flight, with 0.4% fewer cancellations for the period, or the equivalent of 623 flights.
Virgin Australia Airline’s Acting Chief Operating Officer, Stuart Aggs, said: “Being named Australia’s most reliable major airline for on time departures and cancellations is something we’re incredibly proud of, particularly as we know getting away on time is extremely important to our guests and team members.
“This is great recognition for our dedicated teams who work hard every day to minimise disruption and provide guests with a safe, reliable and enjoyable experience. I’m incredibly proud of them for this fantastic result,” Mr Aggs said.
Over the 2019 financial year, Virgin Australia Airlines operated more than 138,000 flights and transported more than 17,900,000 people around Australia.
